David Beckham and Gary Neville have joined forces with a new American consortium to take over Salford City, with the aim of taking the club from League Two to the Premier League.

Beckham and Neville were already co-owners of Salford, with the club also owned by their peers the “Class of 92”. However,

Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Phil Neville and Paul Scholes have all sold their shares to the new consortium, but will continue to play a role in various aspects of the club.

Peter Lim , who owns a 50 per cent stake in the club, sold 10 per cent to Beckham in 2019 and the remaining 40 per cent to Neville in August last year.

Beckham and Neville have been on the hunt for a consortium that believes in the club’s chances of achieving success on and off the pitch.

They eventually decided to team up with Declan Kelly, the founder of an American consultancy, Lord Mervyn Davies, chairman of the Lawn Tennis Association and five other businessmen.เล่น UFABET ผ่านมือถือ สะดวกทุกที่ ทุกเวลาThey eventually decided to team up with Declan Kelly, the founder of an American consultancy, Lord Mervyn Davies, chairman of the Lawn Tennis Association and five other businessmen.

It is believed they are investing between $15m and $20m (£11m and £15m) to help Salford City improve over the next five years, including a target of promotion to the Championship by that time.

Each member of the new consortium will hold a five or 10 per cent stake, giving a total of 80 per cent, with the remaining 20 per cent open to interested investors. Salford had

won four promotions in five years when they were taken over in 2014, but have failed to secure promotion for some time now and this season missed out on the play-offs.
