Jamie Carragher believes Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna experience at Manchester United could cause problems for his former club when the two sides clash on Sunday.
McKenna worked as United’s Under-18s coach from 2016-18 and, under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the 38-year-old was promote to the first-team coaching staff before taking charge of the White Horse in 2021 and leading the team to promotion to the Premier League this season.
The former Liverpool defender said of this weekend’s trip to Suffolk: “A game against a bottom-of-the-table side might seem like an easy introduction for Amorim to English football, but I suspect it will be a lot harder than many people think.”
“Manchester United are not only facing Ipswich at Portman Road, they are also facing a manager who knows the team’s strengths and weaknesses better than any other coach.”
“Kieran McKenna is at United until 2021 and a number of the players he worked with are still there. When the squad is announce and McKenna sees who plays in unfamiliar positions. It will add another dimension to ยูฟ่าเบท how Ipswich will try to break Amorim’s debut.”
“McKenna – one of the coaches considered to replace Erik ten Hag last summer before Amorim arrived – is arguably the best person in the league to assess what United’s players are up to.”
There is no such thing as an easy game for Man United this season: Ruben Amorim arrives at Old Trafford to lift them higher than 13th in the Premier League table where they are now.
