Former Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge believes Nicolas Jackson deserves more credit for his performances this season.

Jackson has five goals and three assists in his first eight Premier League games this season, including his latest in a 2-1 defeat at Liverpool, but the media and pundits are still suggesting the Blues need to find a striker who can give them the goals they need to win the Premier League title.

Sturridge believes the media have criticised Jackson too much, saying: “Nicolas Jackson is the heart of the system. He’s good at playing as a false nine. He’s a great finisher, he’s calm in front of goal.”

“I’m analysing him from open play, I’m not โปรโมชั่น ufabet analysing him from statistics. I don’t think he’s a killer in front of goal. But I think he has what it takes in that position.”

“When you play in a position where you are in the spotlight at a top club, you are judge against the likes of Drogba, Anelka and Crespo. You are judging him against world-class strikers. I think it is a bit too much.”

Jackson’s start to the season has shown perhaps it wasn’t a complete disaster Chelsea fail to sign a striker in the summer. And he will have a chance to add his goal tally on Thursday night against Panathinaikos in the Conference League. A game he will likely start on the bench.
